Samsung About To Release Another Low End Device By The Name of “Galaxy Pocket”
Well, it seems like Samsung is really hitting the low end markets, as you might remember that previously, the launched the new Galaxy Y smartphone and then recently another low end smartphone named Galaxy mini 2 was launched. Both of these smartphones were targeted to the budget conscious consumers but it seems like Samsung was not satisfied with them and now they have announced another, lower end handset named as Samsung Galaxy Pocket. This smartphone has been announced officially today by Samsung and it can be called as the most basic Android device offered by the Korean manufacturer. This handset does not come with the usual bells and whistles and it will be a very lucrative device for all the budget conscious users.
Specifications
Samsung Galaxy Pocket offers an 832MHz single core processor under the hood and a 2.8 inch display screen having QVGA resolution. There is a fixed focus 2 MP camera located the back of the device while it is powered by a 1200 mAh battery under its back cover. Additionally, the Galaxy Pocket will have the standard connectivity features including 3.6 Mbps 3G radio, WiFi, AGPS. That’s not it; the device also comes with 3 GB internal storage memory.
Runs On Gingerbread
All of the above mentioned technical components are confined in a small body having 12 mm thickness the whole device weighs only 97 grams. Software wise, it is a complete regular Android device as it runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread which is enhanced with the usual goodies like Google apps, Samsung’s ChatON service and last but not the least, TouchWiz UI from Samsung as well.
In our opinion it is a very decent handset and will prove very popular for those who are new to Android smartphones and students. There are not many low end Android phones available in the market, and Galaxy Pocket will definitely be appreciated by the consumers who cannot spend a lot of money of a handset.
Releasing Later This Year
Samsung Galaxy Pocket is scheduled to be released in UK later this year, and we have not received any information about its release in rest of the world. On the other hand, the price is also not disclosed yet but we don’t think that will be any higher than Galaxy mini 2 or Galaxy Y
